Crucible Strike Team Update
Playlist Nodes S23
- 3v3 quickplay: prioritizes connection and latency, rotates weekly through Elimination and Showdown, node overtaken by Trials on weekend
- 3v3 ranked: prioritizes rank then skill if widely different, affects Comp Division Rank, rotates Survival and Countdown Rush (at a lower rate)
- 6v6 unranked: prioritizes conneciton, latency, and skill, rotates through Control variations (regular, checkmate, SPARROW!!!, and momentum), node overtaken during Iron banner
- 6v6 quickplay: prioritizes connection and latency, rotates through weekly modes, consolidates Party and Relentless nodes
- Free for All: prioritizes connection and latency

3v3 Modes
- Ranked now has one deathmatch type and one OBJ type
- Countdown Rush is the OBJ type and is removed from Crucible Labs
- Rift taking a seat in quickplay
- New rulesets and spawns coming to Trials and Comp
6v6 Modes
- Unranked is basically Control with a random modifier each time
- Quickplay combines Party and Relentless nodes
- This simplifies the 6v6 game options for less fragmentation but still has variety
Sparrow Control
- Curated towards larger maps
- Allows use of Sparrow during the match
Checkmate
- Checkmate Control will start the first few weeks of S23 in the unranked 6v6 node
- Checkmate will eventually become the default modifier in Crucible, but not ready yet
- Ability cooldowns in S23 going from 50% to 30%
- Crucible labs will have Checkmate versions of 3v3 clash and 3v3 countdown rush
- Trials labs will include Checkmate Dominion
- Additional mid-season changes as well
Matchmaking and Skill
- New lobby balancing being added
- Now acts as a snake draft system for dividing teams
- Not perfect when considering Fireteams
Map Spawning
- S21 spawn system didn't work as intended
- New system in S23 will be implemented
- Should help prevent spawn traps or line-of-sight spawning
- More changes to other systems down the line will also help with spawn trap issues
Competitive S23
- Rank is now based on Ws and Ls (removing performance modifiers)
- Rank points no longer reduced if Rank > Skill, but rank gains still increased if Skill > Rank
- Promotion and Relegation series now only apply to Adept and Ascendant
- Survival will now have a respawn timer of 6s
- Countdown rush now requires 5 points to win, has a round time is now 90s, has heavy spawns at 60s, has unlimited respawns and revivals, and will have the Elimination modifier if score tied at 4-4
Trial's Rewards S23
- New rewards for wins-in-a-row before card is flawed
- 3 wins gets you armor, 4 gives five enhancement cores, 5 gives trials weapon, and 6 gives 3 enhancement prisms
- Adept drop rate for wins on a flawless card increased
- Trials getting a Lab's weekend with the Checkmate modifier'
Competitive Focusing S23
- Point system that must be earned in order to focus past competitive weapons
- There are a limited number of times you can focus each week
- This number is based on the highest earned comp rank for the season
- Copper allows 1 focusing per week, up to Ascendant allowing 7 per week
- Number can't decrease if you rank down
- Player must complete the 3 weekly matches each week in order to focus
- Cost is 3 crucible engrams and 25k glimmer

Known Issues
- When inspecting Veist Auto Rifles, the weapons will rotate around the incorrect point.
- Players can sometimes get blocked from progressing in the Crota's End raid, requiring them to return to orbit.
- The Mindbender's Ambition Shotgun no longer glows when dealing damage to enemies.
- High volumes of multi-kills can result in BIRD errors.
